I do not see any major changes coming in 2009, nor do I feel a need for them. Recalling all my dids and my thoughts here a brief outline of Audio Projects that I will be involved in 2009 and of cause anything else might come alone in future…

The greatest thing that happened to my Yamaha B2 amp was the fact that I got rid of my MiniMe ported bass section. The MiniMe is truly nice now and I operate in the highly desirable not annoying status. That all made me to pay more attention to w...

[quote user="Romy the Cat"]I was thinking about this: how come that driving 6C33C (in fact driving anything one can imagine) the 6E5P was very fine but driving 2A3 it was dull like hell. I opened the amp and tested all – everything was perfect but th...

[quote user="Antonio J."] The electrical supply in my building (I live in an 11th story of a 13th stories building) is very bad, as is in the whole area, which in spite of being residential, has 2 big hospitals around that probably have huge consumpt...

[quote user="nl"] Gordon Rankin of Wavelength Audio did a series of one-stage DHTs with a step-up transformer input about ten years ago. I think they were called the Mercury series. By all accounts, they sounded good, but of course had limited gain, ...

There is no "one tube DHT amp." There are only amps with gain in one box or two boxes.
Your 6E5P tube is not so special. People have been making WE437 spud amps since the 1960s. There is a class of amps that use a high-gm tube driver and a DHT out...

Interesting….. It is interesting to think about the relational of Melquiades slow take-up. I think that major contributing factor is that guy who calls himself Romy the Cat. Really, I think it’s it. The people who are capable to build amplifiers more...

[quote user="floobydust"] The main component that limits low-frequency response in any SET is the OPT. For these initial designs, I used the smallest Hashimoto SE OPTs... their H-203S for the 2A3 and their H-507S for the 45 which are rated at 7...

[quote user="Romy the Cat"] 1) It is not strictly audio project but it kind of related: I need to move my audio site out of my static IP DSL line to a data center. I have high-speed ADSL but the site has a lot of traffic and my crappy DSL li...

[quote user="anthony"]Looks like I
spoke too early. When I made that statement I'd only tested the voltages
in the DHT Channel and they were pretty close to correct...but when I put a
tube in there it glowed a little too hot so I quickly shut it ...

[quote user="drdna"]I beg to
differ. It may contribute to the unique sound of the PurePower. I still have my

Hi Romy,
I am planning my own DSET build. I have based my speakers on your Macondo and
am busy turning MDF horns in my spare time.
Once that is over I will move onto amplifiers. I plan to build a fullrange Melquiades for a
friend and the...
